Dr. Richard B. Foulkes

Dr. Foulkes attended Tufts University graduating Cum Laude before attending Rush Medical College in Chicago. Graduating in the top 10% of his class, Dr. Foulkes chose to pursue ophthalmology with Dr. David Patton at the Catholic Medical Center in Queens, New York, and Cornell Medical College, where he distinguished himself becoming chief resident in his 3rd year.
While in his training, Dr. Foulkes met the founder of the LASIK procedure, Dr. Lucio Burato. He became convinced that this procedure would change the world, allowing for nearly anyone to consider improving their vision, using the combination of the excimer laser and the “flap”. He has devoted himself to this work since 1997. With his research, lectures, and writing, he has influenced doctors around the World.
Dr. Foulkes has performed over 48,000 LASIK procedures and over 20,000 cataract procedures.

- Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)
